Camariñas’ women have always had a close relationship with the sea, to the point that some professions are exclusively feminine.

Shellfish gatherers, fishing net makers, goose barnacle pickers, lighthouse keepers, cannery workers, lacemakers… are some of the professions dominated by women and having a strong presence in the local economy.
